Job Description

Weichert Co. is hiring a Regional Accountant in our corporate headquarters located in Morris Plains, NJ.  The Regional Accountant is responsible for moderately complex to complex accounting activities relating to the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.  He/she will provide specialized or general analysis support with a variety of accounting tasks that require advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices.  The Regional Accountant acts as the liaison between Accounting and sales operations and is expected to independently handle multiple regions, as assigned.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

·         Responsible for general ledger postings and account analysis.   ·         Completes complex and/or specialized bank account and balance sheet reconciliations. ·         Provides supervision to lower level Accountants; reviews and approves their work assignments. ·         Maintains daily contact with senior management and sales operations staff regarding statistical and financial information requests. ·         Assists the Assistant Corporate Controller in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and tax packages.   ·         Reviews financial statements on a monthly basis and produces reports for management’s review. ·         Analyzes reports, records, and financial data; makes applicable recommendations to senior management.   ·         Recommends operating procedures and internal controls to senior management.  Regularly makes decisions outside of established guidelines and policies. ·         Assists with the preparation of federal, local, or state reports and tax returns.  ·         Organizes files and records in an efficient manner. ·         Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

·         Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in Accounting preferred

·         Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

·         Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience

·         Experience using the JD Edwards accounting system preferred

 ·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products

·         Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

·         Good oral and written communications skills

·         Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

·         Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions ·         Strong attention to detail
